Description
Ar de Rock
Rui Veloso's debut album, released in July 1980, was not just another record — it was the ignition point for Portuguese rock.
Recorded and mixed in just 72 hours at the RPE studios in Lisbon, this work catapulted songs like "Chico Fininho" and "A Rapariguinha do Shopping" to success, proving for the first time that it was possible to make rock in Portuguese and sell it on a large scale.
With lyrics by Carlos Tê — initially reluctant to abandon English — and a sunny and ironic approach that eschewed the ideological dramatism of the time, Ar de Rock captured the zeitgeist of a post-April 25th generation that wanted to look forward.
